Description
Amazonian XL Grow Box
The latest generation of the Amazonian XL Grow Box represents the result of years
of refinement, testing, and optimization. This upgraded version sets a new standard for ease of use,
yield potential, and reliability compared to earlier grow kits.
Compared to the first generation of the Mondo® XL grow kit, this improved version offers:
- Larger yields with more mushrooms per cycle
- Increased number of flushes*
- Improved resistance against contamination
- Simplified and clearer instructions
*Some strains naturally produce more flushes than others. The first three flushes are typically the largest.
The New Standard in Easy Cultivation
The Mondo® PES Amazonian XL grow kit differs from many traditional grow kits through
several technical improvements that are integrated directly into the substrate.
Unlike older or simpler kits, no additional spores are required.
During laboratory preparation, spores develop into active mycelium within the substrate
(the cake) before packaging. This ensures consistency, stability, and ease of use
for home cultivation.
Storage Instructions
It is recommended to begin the cultivation process as soon as possible after receiving
the grow kit. If delayed, the grow kit may be stored in a refrigerator at a temperature
between 2°C and 8°C for up to two weeks after the manufacturing date.
Wrap the grow box tightly in a clean plastic bag to prevent moisture loss or contamination.
Package Contents
- 1 × Grow box containing substrate with active mycelium (the cake)
- 1 × Large grow bag with integrated micron filters
- 2 × Paper clips for sealing the grow bag
Additional Items Required
- Misting bottle for humidity control
- Clean, potable water
- Clean working environment
Recommended Equipment
- Surgical gloves
- Face mask
- Hand and surface disinfectant
- Soaking bag
- Thermometer
- Thermo mat (recommended if room temperature drops below 18°C)
Preparation Before Cultivation
Close all windows to prevent drafts, as airborne microorganisms may contaminate the grow kit.
Place the grow box on a disinfected surface after removing it from the carton.
Ensure hands, arms, and working tools are clean.
Using gloves and a face mask is strongly recommended to reduce contamination risk.
Starting the Cultivation Process
- Fill the grow box with clean potable water and close it securely.
- Allow the substrate to soak for 12 hours.
- After soaking, drain all excess water completely.
- Place the grow box inside the large grow bag with the opening facing upwards.
- Remove the lid, rinse it, store it in the ziplock bag, and place it back in the carton.
- Fold the grow bag opening twice without covering the micron filter and secure with paper clips.
The grow kit is now ready to be placed back into the carton box for incubation.
Temperature Requirements
The optimal temperature for cultivation is approximately 24°C.
Temperatures should not fall below 18°C or exceed 29°C.
In colder environments, the use of a thermo mat is recommended.
Light Conditions
Indirect light is required to signal surface conditions for growth.
A few hours of indirect daylight or artificial light per day is sufficient.
Avoid direct sunlight, as it may damage the mycelium.
Misting and Humidity
Begin misting one day after starting cultivation.
Open the grow bag and lightly mist the inner walls of the bag rather than the substrate.
Mist four times daily and reseal the bag immediately after each session.
Pin Formation and Growth
Under favorable conditions, pin formation may begin between 5 and 16 days,
depending on strain characteristics.
Flushes
Mushrooms grow in clusters known as flushes.
The first two flushes are typically the most productive.
Additional flushes may occur with diminishing yield.
Harvesting
Harvest mushrooms when the veil beneath the cap begins to tear.
Wear gloves or ensure hands are thoroughly cleaned.
Gently twist each mushroom at the base until it releases.
Avoid pulling to protect the mycelium.
Side Growth
Mushrooms may grow along the sides of the substrate where light exposure occurs.
These may be harvested carefully before soaking for the next flush.
Soaking Between Flushes
After harvesting, refill the grow box halfway with clean water,
seal it, and place it in a soaking bag.
Store in the refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C for 12 hours.
After soaking, repeat the cultivation steps to initiate the next flush.
End of Lifecycle
If no mushrooms appear for three weeks after the second flush,
or if discoloration occurs (green, red, grey, or yellow),
the grow kit should be discarded outdoors.
Spores
Late harvesting may result in spore release, causing dark discoloration.
While not harmful, this reduces visual appeal and may decrease potency.
Responsible Use
This grow kit is intended for small-scale home use only.
Please consult responsible use guidelines before cultivation.
